Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Life after Adoption

Congratulations!

You have changed the destiny of a displaced, abused, and/or disadvantaged boxer!  All of us at Lone Star Boxer Rescue wish you as much joy with your new family member as we have with our own.

We all know how exciting it is to bring home your new family member, but we also know how easy it is to forget to take care of a few small (but important) things on the “To-Do” list. Below are a few points we’d like to remind you of: 

  1. The most important purchase you can make for your new dog is an ID tag with his/her new name on it, along with your phone number(s) and/or address. Should your new dog ever get out of the yard or the house, this is the best way for him/her to be returned to you

  2. Take a few moments to review some links and resources we have on our site. We highly recommend you review the material, even if you are an experienced dog owner - there is some useful information in these articles!  :)

  3. Remember to schedule a general wellness check-up with your family veterinarian. It’s important to establish a relationship between your vet and your new dog prior to an injury or illness. Make sure to give your vet copies of the medical records you received, so that you can also keep a copy for your records.

  4. Once your pet has had a chance to settle in, we would love to hear how everything is going at home! We cannot tell you how much all of our volunteers enjoy reading about successful adoptions – there’s even an entire section dedicated to it on our website. We always appreciate an updated picture and a story to add to our “Successful Adoptions” page.  You can email this to the volunteer who did your home visit or to Info@lsbr.org

Other Things to Remember

  1. Should you think of any questions, or have any problems with your new dog, please contact us! You can email us at infoabrtx@gmail.com. You may also contact the volunteer who did your home visit. We want every adoption to be a successful one, so the most important thing to remember is:  WE’RE HERE TO HELP!

  2. We hope this doesn’t happen, but if you need to find a new home for your dog for any reason, LSBR requires that the dog be returned to us, instead of being adopted out to another individual. Please contact us if you need to return your adopted pet.
