LUNA
Millie (formerly Luna) is doing great. She is such a good, smart dog. She is so good with the girls, especially with our 4 year old. It is so fun to watch their special bond grow. I have attached a few recent pictures. Thanks again for allowing us to adopt Millie. We love her!

Lady (formerly Petra)
On the other hand, it seems like Lady (formerly Petra) has always been part of our family. She is such a sweetheart. We bonded within the first few days; she follows me everywhere. I rush home from work every day because I know Lady is waiting for me:) We were warned that Lady needed to be an only dog (which she is) because she doesn't like being around other dogs. Even though she doesn't play well with other dogs, she has been great with our grandkids (ages 8, 2, and 1). She's extremely patient with the kids and is very protective of them. And she loves riding in the car, which works out well since we travel frequently. I'm so thankful to Lone Star Boxer Rescue for matching me with the perfect companion. I call Lady my therapy dog--she's loving and patient and always makes me smile. Here's a picture of Lady in her usual spot next to me on our couch.

Lucky
Hello,
My name is Kristin Holland and I just wanted to write a note and give you an update on a boxer named Lucky that we adopted in 2006. Lucky is a beautiful flashy brindle male boxer, and despite his monstrous size (92 lbs) he is so very sweet and gentle. My husband John and I were looking for a large breed dog that could get along with our, at the time, tiny 3 year old little boy. We went to LSBR in Nov of 2006 to look at a couple of dogs we had seen online, but all of the ones we had in mind were too rambuncious for our little Ethan. So I saw Luck in a yard gingerly walking around, and decided to see if he and Ethan would mesh. When we entered the yard with Lucky he more or less ignored my husband and I and immediately began to follow Ethan around. They were friends instantly, and I told my husband, "He's the one". We took Luck home that night and Ethan and Luck have been inseparable ever since.
Ethan however is not the only one who has been blessed by having Lucky in our home. In Dec 2006 just one month after bringing Lucky home I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 25. During the long days and even longer nights of chemo therapy Lucky would lie in bed with me for sometimes 12 hrs at a time, he laid outside the shower while I would bathe, and followed me from room to room when I was well enough to get around. He was such a great comfort in a very difficult time for me. He has brought our family so much joy! My husband and Lucky also have a special bond! They take rides in the truck together, and play tug of war, but mostly Lucky just wants to snuggle.
When we adopted Lucky we were living in Katy TX, in the summer of 2007 we moved to Colorado where Lucky got to experience snow and mountains, and now we are in Rolla MO planning to take Luck with us to Japan in a few months. Luck and Ethan have grown up together and through all of the moves the one constant for Ethan is Mom Dad and Lucky. In 2008 we added a second boxer to the family. We adopted her from a family that was moving overseas and did not want to take her. Her name is Sasha and her and Lucky are quite a pair.
Thank you so much for all that you do! We love Lucky so very much, and are so blessed to have him in our lives! We were told that when the rescue found Lucky on the side of I-10 in sealy that he was starving, beat up and had heartworms. Other shelters may have not even bothered with him. Thank you so much for nursing him back to health and finding him a foster home until he could find his forever home with us!

Lexi (formerly Sweets)
Dear LSBR, As the year comes to a close we wanted to say thank you for all that you do. We lost our "first child", Dylan (8yr old male Boxer) earlier in the year. My husband and I were devastated and our 4yr old daughter was heartbroken. After careful consideration we decided our house was not a home with out a boxer. However, we decided this time around that we did not want to buy a dog from a breeder, but rather we wanted to make a difference in the life of a dog who desperately needed a home. We are so thankful we made this decision. Lexi has quickly become a cherished member of our family. She is such a sweet and loving dog. I am amazed everyday by her gentle nature with my daughter and my 1yr old son. We are anxiously awaiting completion of her heartworm treatment, so that she can run and play with the kids. Thanks again for helping to save these wonderful dogs and for adding so much to the lives of the families who adopt them. Shawn, Quan, Hana & Jonah Dinh
