Elvis (now Walker Texas Ranger)
Nobody Is Perfect
When our oldest dog passed away we knew we needed a new “friend” for our boxer mix, Dallas. She is so smart, we knew it had to the boxer in her! So after considering buying one or adopting from a shelter, we knew the best thing would be to help a dog in need. We found the LSBR online and I started “picking out” the perfect female boxer for our house. We started the application process and found out that we couldn’t have a same sex boxer, which upset me but now that Dallas is older we know why. She is very Alpha in our house and does not do as well with other females as she does males.
So with help from LSBR they picked some dogs for us to meet at the shelter. I feel in love with a handsome white boxer, VERY well trained, sweet and quiet. The perfect dog for us!! Then came Elvis, and our lives changed forever. He was bouncy, and licking everything in sight, and didn’t seem too smart. But he knew that convincing the “dad” was how to get a new home. He went straight to my husband and sat beside him licking the air and pushing to be petted. My husband was sold. Then he turned his charms on my son, after soaking his face with kisses I knew I was outnumbered and gave in. Elvis was not house trained or crate trained and heartworm positive as well, so I left thinking what happened to my perfect boxer scenario.
Well he has been one of the best things to happen to us! We changed his name to Walker Texas Ranger (from Talladega Nights - because he is always “hopped up on Mountain Dew“). His personality lights up our house. He is always happy and friendly to everyone & everything, people, dogs, cats…he doesn’t even chase the squirrels. Our vet said that by next year he should be heartworm free!! And he really is smart, he has learned so much in just over a year. I am SO THANKFUL that LSBR saved him from euthanasia - our lives would have been missing so much! Who said everything has to be perfect!

Eclair
I hope you guys are doing well! Tomorrow is the anniversary that Chloe (Eclair) was rescued from BARC by LSBR. I was actually trying to find a copy of her BARC photo and I noticed she is not listed under success stories on the website. I also wanted to send you some new photos of her too. She is never still so its hard to catch her in a good one! Chloe is just under 60lbs. She is stinker, but she is such a sweetheart. She is getting all her shots updated on Wenesday, but as of now she is a healthy girl who loves to run with me and loves to play with other dogs. The last photo attached is of her and my mom's boxer, Zoey. Best friends for sure!
