Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

ADOPTION PENDING!

Hi, my name is Louise and I am so happy to start the New Year with my new foster family.  My foster mom calls me Ruby because of my beautiful reddish coat and because she thinks that I am a real gem.

I love being in my foster home, but would love a home of my own. .  I am playful, but not hyper.  I appreciate a good nap on a comfy bed or snuggling with you on the couch.  I have been a good girl and go outside to go potty.  I was skinny, but thanks to my foster home I am putting on some much need weight and gaining some muscle. I am gentle when taking treats from your hand.

I am getting along with my foster fur brother and fur sister.  Since not all the dogs I have been around have been very nice to me a proper introduction is important. I may also need some time to build trust with other dogs. I would love to be the only dog in the house.  That way I get all the attention.

I also like having two legged teenage brothers. I am not bothered by house hold noises or groups of people.  Why would I? Everyone loves me. I do not like loud noises like fireworks though. They scare me.  I would rather just stay inside.

Since I never really had a loving family or anyone really spend time with me I do not know many basic commands or what toys are. My foster mom says I am really smart and since I love treats with a little time and attention I could be a fast learner.  I love riding in the car.  I get excited when I put my collar and leash on, but my foster mom says I need to learn how to walk on a leash a little bit better.  I do well with a gentle lead collar.  I was not too bothered by dogs barking at me on our walks or cars going by.  I do like to chase birds, ducks, and squirrels so I may not do well with household cats.

While I am not a big barker, but have a big bark when someone comes to the door.  I am friendly once they are invited in.  I don't mind my cage and will go in with a treat.  I do like being able to sleep out of the cage at night.  I stay on my bed until morning.  My foster mom says I am not a big licker, drooler, or slobberer.  I will give you a kisses just not a bath.

If you are ready for a real gem then I just might be your girl.
