Hi everyone, my name is Mattie. I'm a one-year-old American bulldog that was stuck in a puppy mill and endured unbelievable cruelty. When I was rescued, I was emaciated and antisocial, but through the efforts of my rescuers and foster family, I have gained weight and had my faith in people restored. I love my human friends now! And I am crate and potty trained, I passed my Basic Obedience class, and I'm on my way to passing the Canine Good Citizen test! I keep telling myself, "You've come a long way, Miss Mattie!" Because of my past, I do not like being outside much, especially by myself. I like to know that someone is watching out for me. I do like other dogs, and I've been around children a little bit - they're pretty cool. I do have joint pain, so I will never be a runner, but that's OK, because I would much prefer hanging out on the couch watching TV with you! I do like walks and I love anything that challenges me mentally - I'm one smart, very sweet girl! I will make any family a wonderful companion, and I think after what I've been through, I deserve a good home and a start at a new life - don't you agree?
