Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Hi! My name is Vigo ! Don’t be fooled by my tough name, I’m just a big loveable guy! Have you ever heard of “a horse of a different color” from the Wizard of Oz?? Well…. I’m kind of the dog of a different color! I’ve got one brown eye, one blue, white and purple fur, and black spots on my skin. Don’t worry, the purple is fading out. When the nice people at LSBR found me I had these big sores all over me with this purple stuff that they think was horse liniment, and a bad case of pneumonia. You can’t even tell I was so sick now, with the way I love to run and play! I love cuddling, playing with people or other dogs, talking, taking long walks…. I’ve totally recovered from my pneumonia, and am so rambunctious and full of life! I have an easy going personality and move on if a dog of any size doesn’t want to play with me. I’m a little reserved when I first meet people, and like to say hello by leaning, just to see how you feel about that. My foster mom was amazed that I’m so eager to take baths, get my ears cleaned, and have my toenails clipped! I think it’s so cool getting all of this attention, you can do anything with me. I get a little excited when you tell me I’ve done something good (like sit or down) and sometimes I just jump up in excitement and shake my head around like Animal from the Muppets and you have to remind me what it was you told me to do in the first place! I’m learning to down, sit, heel, and curb (that makes me stop at the door), and I'm crate and house-trained! I’m currently being fostered with 2 other Boxer dogs, and LSBR thinks I would do well with other dogs or on my own. If you'd like an easy-going, fun-love dog then ask to meet me!
