Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

For several months, my heeler friend and I, wandered the streets, praying that someone would stop and help us.  We were so cold, hungry and scared. We kept wandering why no one would help us since we are good dogs.

Finally, my wish came true when a nice lady stopped and offered me food and then lifted me into her car since I was too scared to get in on my own.  Sadly, my friend was not with me and the lady looked everywhere.

My new life began with a new name, Caruso. In Italian my name means "to think".  Good name for me since I think a lot about my good fortune and about what my forever family will be like.  The first night in my foster's home I moaned when I laid on that warm, soft bed in my crate. I could not believe my good fortune.  No more cold, hungry, lonely nights!

The man called "vet" thinks that I am a Chocolate Lab/Heeler mix. I have some webbing between my toes like a Retriever and spots on my feet like a Heeler.  Most of all, I am smart and want to please like both breeds. I got the "best of both worlds" like that cute gal, Miley Cyrus, sings.  I learned about Miley Cyrus from my foster mom's 6 year old daughter.  I love that kid.  We play fetch and cuddle together.

I love other dogs and they like me. I have so much fun playing with another foster dog named Blu. Her picture is on here too. I also like kitty cats.

Bragging isn't in my nature but I learned to "sit, stay and lie down" super fast.  I'm excellent in my crate and house-trained now too.

To know me is to love me.  The folks at the vet clinic fell in love with me but they all have lots of pets.  Do you have a little spot in your home and heart for a gentle, fun, smart, quiet boy like me? I'm hoping so.
