Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Learn more about the Boxer.

"Chip," as this handsome boy is known by his foster family, is a doggone great dog! His name comes from the fact his eyes look like melted chocolate chips, and they will indeed melt your heart! He is affectionate and friendly to people who greet him, and he loves to give sweet boxer kisses. Chip is crate and house trained. He gets along beautifully with his foster family's two boxers (male and female) employing great temperament and charm. Chip has done extremely well with the two resident cats. One of the cats will walk under his belly or chin with no problems. However it goes without saying, introducing Chip to new felines would require strict monitoring. He is obedient when told "no", but can get over excited. Chip has been in heartworm treatment (crated) for almost two months, so he likes to jump for joy on potty breaks. He may need a little instruction in this area, or he may settle nicely once he regains his freedom. The cost of Chip's treatment has exceeded $750.00. Even if you can't adopt this wonderful, sweet spirited boy, please consider sponsorship. UPDATE: Chip is heartworm free!
