Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.
Layla is a 10-month-old female boxer/vizsla mix who was rescued from a kill shelter near Austin. She is spayed, heartworm negative and very affectionate. Layla is also one smart girl who learns very quickly and has progressed well with her obedience training. She loves going on her daily jogs and walks, and she walks very well on a leash. Layla is house and crate trained. She can be somewhat skittish when meeting new people, especially some men, and this is likely due to the harsh treatment she received before her rescue. However, Layla warms up quickly when she realizes that she is not in danger, and loves being with people. Layla can have problems with other dogs, and so may do best in a home where she will be the only dog. She has not been evaluated around cats. Layla is a sweet girl who is looking for the opportunity to become a loving member of a caring family.
