Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Hi, I’m "Hobbs," and I was named after Robert Redford's character Roy Hobbs in "The Natural." I'm five years old, and my Mom and Dad have had me since I was 8 weeks old so I'm sure you can imagine how hard it will be for them to let me go. Speaking of character, my new home will be filled with lots of joy and excitement with my fun-loving personality in the mix. My Mom and Dad always said I would do great in a "one dog" family and I hope that happens so I will get all of the attention! I have had some aggression toward the four-year-old male boxer in my house, and while this usually only happens twice a year it has been more frequent lately. Since Mom and Dad have a new baby they can't risk an accident. However, I do fine with both cats at home. Even though I'll try to chase and play with them, they don't want anything to do with me. (Silly cats!) And the female boxer and I get along fine. I do well on walks and have no history of aggression toward strangers or other dogs. I don't mind the car as long as I can ride in the backseat. I've grown up playing with all three of Mom and Dad's nieces, and now they range in ages from 9 to 14. Also, everyone else who knows me loves me. As I said before, my Mom and Dad are sure going to hate losing me, and that's why it's very important I get a loving and caring family who won't mind an occasional call or sending a picture of me every now and then. I'm going to make a new family very happy soon, maybe it will be yours!
