Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Update 12-13-05 Perseus, affectionately known as Percy, is one handsome male boxer. Percy, who is about three years old, has had a rough life and, at first, was unable to make eye contact with his foster mom. Percy has now learned to play, and enjoys it most with his “boy” and “girl” in his foster home. Percy has also learned the Boxer Wiggle and how to dance whenever his foster mom calls his name. Percy will need a special home where he is the only dog. He will also need someone who understands that he needs some time to learn to trust you. Once he knows that you are going to love him Percy would never do anything to make you mad. Percy went through a difficult and painful neuter that has caused his recovery to be challenging. Though irrigation and enlargement of his surgical site, drainage, creams, ointment, and a bunch of prodding Percy never snapped or bit-although the vet looked tempting a time or two. Percy is a loyal, loving wonderful dog who deserves a good home. Just check out the new pictures and you can see the change in his spirit! Original story: Perseus, affectionately known as Percy, is one handsome male boxer. Percy, who is about three years old, has had a rough life and, at first, was unable to make eye contact with his foster mom. He has some cloudiness in one eye which may have resulted from "backyard" medical care. Percy has scars on his paws and was malnourished when he came to LSBR. But with some attention and care, Percy has turned out to be a very loving dog. He is sweet and gentle with children and wonderful in his crate. Percy accepts other dogs when properly introduced, but he would prefer have his own family to himself. After spending most of his life outdoors with very little food and almost no care, Percy deserves a loving, forever home.
